XERF Skin Tightening FAQ

XERF Treatment FAQ

Does XERF hurt?

XERF is generally very comfortable and well-tolerated. Most patients describe it as a warm, tightening sensation.

You may feel occasional quick “zings” during treatment—this is normal. These are more likely if your skin isn’t well hydrated, which is why we strongly recommend increasing your water intake 24–48 hours before your appointment.

Why is hydration so important?

Hydration plays a big role in how the treatment feels and performs. XERF uses radiofrequency energy, which travels more evenly through well-hydrated tissue.

When you’re properly hydrated, treatments tend to be more comfortable and more effective.

Is there any downtime?

There’s little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness or slight swelling right after treatment, but this typically resolves within 1–3 days.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2–4 weeks prior

  • Stop retinoids and exfoliating products 5–7 days before

  • Avoid waxing or peels in the treatment area for 1–2 weeks

  • Drink plenty of water before your appointment

  • Arrive with clean skin (no makeup, lotions, or oils)

What should I avoid after treatment?

  • Skip products with alcohol for about a week

  • Avoid excessive heat (saunas, intense workouts) right after

  • Do not use ice packs on the treated area

  • Stay out of the sun and wear SPF daily

When will I see results?

Some patients notice a tighter, smoother feel shortly after treatment, with continued improvement over time as collagen production increases.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your goals and the area being treated. Many patients benefit from a series of treatments for optimal results.

Who is a good candidate for XERF?

XERF is great for anyone looking to improve skin laxity, tighten loose skin, and boost collagen—especially in areas like the face, jawline, neck, or body.
